Only a few weeks left till registration… D:

And I STILL have no idea what language to choose. It’s to the point some of the people in my history class are trying to help me out haha. One of my old high school teachers is insisting I choose Hindi, my mom thinks Japanese would make me happiest but both her and my dad think Chinese would be most useful for me. I just… don’t know. At least I narrowed it down from like 8 to 3 now. So here they are:

Japanese: I’m a geek when it comes to their culture. I love their food. I did kendo for a few years. I know a bit about the history and culture and it’s just so… freaking… cool. I also know where I can get lots of resources to practice. But the problem is only Japan speaks Japanese.

Chinese: I don’t support what their government does, especially with Tibet. I can’t pronounce the words that well either. My friend from China tries to help me, but I end up getting tongue tied haha. But it would be sooo useful for jobs and studying abroad in other regions besides China because SO many people speak it. And the fact that it’s a pretty old language is cool. I just… I don’t know, I don’t feel like I’d be very happy about learning Chinese. Like it’s only an obligation.

Hindi: I love how India has all the different senses when it comes to their culture. And I want to try this delicious spicy food. Also in love with Bollywood. And then I think a couple other countries around their have some larger Hindi speaking communities too so that would be nice. Then there’s the fact that Hinduism and Buddhism originated here… but I don’t know. I’d really love to go here for study abroad to get the entire culture.

It is just so hard for me to make up my mind. Ugh. D: Why is this so hard?

So for my Eastern Religion site visit, my mom and I went to a Hindu ceremony in honor of Vishnu and Lakshmi. This has had to be the third religious event in my life. The first two were Christian. Now this one may have been boring at times, but it was so nice. The brahmin explained everything going on to us and were super kind. Nobody cared that we were there. They even brought us into the ceremony like everyone else, offering a paper towel so we didn’t have to wipe our hand on our pants after taking the sweet honey milk. We put our hands over the fire, got the white dot on our foreheads, all of it. The incense smelled great, the prayers were even beautiful. I took a few photos too. I probably wouldn’t become a Hindu, but they are really open there. And it just makes me want to travel the world more to see  some beautiful cultures. :) Good thing I can keep my sanity by seeing some events here.

Dang I have an insane amount of reading to do already. Yay.

I’m pretty sure I’ll do just fine in Eastern Religion and Dinosaur, it’s like middle school/high school all over again… Global Health is the one I’m worried about haha. But I’ll make it.
